World Science Day in P6
11th Nov 2024
In celebration of World Science Day, the P6 children engaged in a hands-on experiment where they created their own Lava Lamps, observing a fascinating chemical reaction in action. Working in groups, the students filmed the process of making the Lava Lamp, carefully documenting each step. Using iMovie, they then applied their literacy skills to create detailed explanations of the experiment. This task allowed them to practice key features of explanation writing, such as clear sequencing, the use of time connectives (like "first," "next," and "finally"), and appropriate vocabulary. By combining their scientific curiosity with the structure of formal writing, the children were able to demonstrate both their understanding of the experiment and their ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
