There are still many children without PE gear in for clubs on Thursdays... Please help us by ensuring PE gear is brought to school on Mondays and goes home on Fridays.
On Wednesday January 31st we will be holding our annual Grandparents Assembly at 9.10am in the school hall. All of the classes from P1-7 will participate so please spread the word that all grandparents are very welcome to come along to this celebration of their role in passing on the faith. This event is celebrated on this date in schools across Ireland as part of Catholic Schools' Week.
There are still one or two outstanding deposits for P7 children who wish to go to Gortatole in March. We would appreciate payment asap. A letter detailing the remainder to be paid will be sent out by the end of this coming week.
P7 meetings with the Principal to complete transfer paperwork will begin this Monday, January 22nd. Some parents have requested this is sent home and this will be done on Monday. Please return by the end of the week.
Parent Teacher meetings will be taking place from now until the end of January for our P1-P7 pupils. Hopefully you have all received your letter of invite by now. If not, you will soon.
Our P7s began their Shared Education Programme with Ebrington this week with a visit to the Tower Museum and Guildhall. This week they will be visiting Long Tower Church and St Columb's Cathedral. The programme will run until the end of March.
We had hoped to begin our PIN programme this week. This is a "Parents in Numeracy" course and it aims to have parents and children play maths games together over a six week period and thus improve mental maths. The original meeting on January 17th was poorly attended so we are hoping to encourage a few more parents to join in. For that reason we will be repeating the meeting this Wednesday afternoon at 2.40pm- again in the P4 classroom.
Nursery News
The children in the Nursery Unit will be going to the cinema this Friday morning. Mrs Concannon's class will attend week 2 of the music and art programme at the Playhouse on Wednesday which is part of further Shared Education Programme.
That's it for this week.
